A word from our President
The last hour!
The last hour!
As you have heard in the news, Russia has attacked Ukraine.
I am concerned and ask for prayers for those who are suffering on the ground and especially for our brothers and sisters in the Lord, while leaders make comfortable decisions in their living rooms.
In these times of crisis, with Russia and Ukraine at war, Christians in these countries now need more and more to pray. What a situation! Your country at war with another country, but you are a Russian Christian and you do not want to go and fight the Ukrainian Christian, even if your country asks you to! This is not an easy situation! In Russia as in Ukraine, Christians need to draw closer to each other and realize that we have the same Father and that we form the same Body, which is the temple of God.
God spoke to me at the beginning of the pandemic about the divine connection, reminding all Christians to unite in action. Those who listened have benefitted from communion. The others have suffered from physical and spiritual isolation. Jesus' prayer, "Let them be one as we are one," is the inspiration that motivates us to invite the entire Christian family to open its heart to unity. U.V.V.C. has been working since its beginning to fulfil the Jesus Prayer but encounters much opposition and may obstacles. The Christian milieu has lived independently for a very long time without the need of others. The pandemic has not only claimed physical but also spiritual victims. How long will the kingdom of God continue to suffer from the lack of revelation and collaboration?
Already oppression is being felt, not only by Ukrainians, but throughout the world. As Russia is one of the major suppliers of oil to Europe, the oil market has continued upward, and the cost of living is rising. "A misfortune never comes alone," says the old adage. With the Russian invasion, also comes the economic problems that accompany it.
The late U.S. Senator John McCain mocked Russia as a gas station claiming to be a country. Russia provides a third of Europe's oil and gas. This has caused the price of gasoline to jump, which makes the task more difficult. Europe must first be "united" to be able to act effectively through sanctions that will hurt Russia, a country that currently is allowing a critical mass of its population to become angry. Germany pledging to shut down its last nuclear reactors for good this year is a clear example of this. There are few immediate alternatives against Russia. Already Italy's prime minister, Mario Draghi, has made no secret of his discomfort at the possibility of European sanctions against Moscow.
Russia provides only 10% of the energy consumed in the country of Uncle Sam; the issue there is inflation. U.S. President press secretary, Jen Psaki, said Wednesday that there would be "a cost associated with defending our values." Today, I take up these words to say to Christians, "Yes, there is a cost attached to our values." U.V.V.C. appeals to all the children of God, who love God and want unity, to join U.V.V.C. (Unity Voice for Christian Values), to resist the spiritual enemy who seeks to divide us and to pray for the unity of the Body of Christ to have an influence on governmental decisions and to stop approving laws that go against our values.
This is a serious time in Europe. The economic and political options available to Washington to deal with it are, after all, unfortunately limited, but the hope is in Christian unity, prayer, and concerted action with political representatives. Unite with the Christian family of Quebec. Subscribe and keep up to date with spiritual developments.
