"God is doing something pretty amazing. We never thought in a million years that we could have so many people from all over the world gathered in prayer. Being in the top 5 of the App Store is really amazing. Praise be to God!"
The Hallow app wants to "help find peace, deepen your relationship with God, and sleep soundly every night." Launched in 2018, it has millions of downloads in 150 countries. Last year, it exceeded 100 million prayers.
During Lent, the app launched its annual 40-day challenge, in imitation of Jesus and his 40-day fast in the desert.
"For forty days He walked through the desert. Thirsty, hungry, tired and tempted by the devil. And He continued His walk to His sacrifice of love for us on the cross. A sacrifice for all of us. Together, as a community from all over the world, we will pray for 40 days before His crucifixion and resurrection on Easter Sunday. We will travel through the life-changing spiritual classic, the Imitation of Christ, and focus our prayer and meditation on the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting and giving."
Several Christian stars are engaged in this challenge. Among them, Mark Wahlberg, Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in the series The Chosen, or Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ.
