Trudeau’s ‘commitment’ to women is no deeper than a desire to push abortion
Abortion is never safe, and yet Trudeau continues to declare it as such
(LifeSiteNews) – This past Thursday, on so-called “International Safe Abortion Day,” Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement regarding his support for “the right to choose.” However, while claiming to be heroically advocating for women, the Trudeau government is once again pushing an incredibly anti-woman agenda.
“Today, on International Safe Abortion Day, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to upholding a woman’s fundamental right to choose,” Trudeau said, reiterating what he has already said countless times. “No one should ever be forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy, and the Government of Canada is unequivocal in that pursuit.”
This announcement, unfortunately, is only a pretext for the government’s “commitment” to women’s happiness, as they continuously advance a cause that is known to harm women, both mentally and physically, as well as which detracts
from and objectifies the value of womanhood itself.
The Catholic Church teaches that the sexual act is one that is unitive as well as procreative. However, the procreative aspect is its primary purpose and, as such, it cannot be taken without its intended consequences. Once the procreative aspect is removed, as abortion and contraception allow, women are reduced to objects who can be used by men for their own gain. Abortion and contraception remove from the marital act that full gift of self, that love that allows for the creation of a new human life, reducing women to mere objects of utility.
Catherine Doherty, the founder of Madonna House, once said that “men live where women are at.” What she meant by this is that men live up to the standard that women set for them; men will treat women as women allow themselves to be treated. Women have the power to hold men, and thus society itself, to higher moral standards. Sadly, abortion is the result of women who have lowered their standards, believing the lie that killing their children will allow them to live more freely and be more respected in the world. In reality, abortion allows men to use women without any ramifications for their actions.
Pope Paul VI warned in Humanae Vitae that “… a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.”
This has become all too real in Canada’s over-sexualized culture. As love is removed from society, men are now able to use women for their own pleasure without fear of consequences.
Society promotes abortion and contraception as giving women the ability to live their lives as they wish while they really reduce women to the level of objects for their own gain. Women who believe this lie simultaneously fight for their “right” to abortion and contraception, and yet, at the end of the day, they wonder why they cannot find a partner who loves them for something other than their bodies.
Again, “men live where women are at,” and abortion and contraception create weak and irresponsible men,
not the strong fathers that society greatly needs.
In the aftermath of the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade in the United States, this utilization of women was seen on an even larger scale, as companies vowed to pay for the abortions of their female employees. While applauded by pro-abortion activists, abortion is merely a much cheaper alternative for the company in comparison to them paying for her maternity leave and supporting her throughout her pregnancy. No, it is cheaper to kill than to support women as they bring new life into the world.
“Unsafe abortions are a leading cause of maternal deaths,” Trudeau’s statement continued.
Tragic and preventable deaths will continue for as long as women are denied the right to make choices for their own bodies. That’s why we’re helping to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in developing countries, with funding to improve access to safe abortions, post-abortion care, and family planning.
Abortion is never safe, and yet Trudeau continues to declare it as such. Unfortunately, the reality is that Canada’s prominent culture of death is such that killing has become one of the major forms of “health care” in Canada. With the increased lack of respect for the dignity of every human person, it has become easier and cheaper to kill those whom the government deems worthless than it is to help them heal and live their life with the dignity they deserve.
Abortion not only negatively impacts the health of a woman, mentally and physically, but it also allows for various other evils to remain hidden, including instances of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and even adultery.
“Today, we reflect on the progress we have made and the work that still needs to be done to ensure everyone has access to a safe abortion,” Trudeau’s statement concluded, “including standing up to those who want to take us backwards. To those at home and around the world continuing to fight for their safety and their bodily autonomy: know that we will always stand up for your right to choose.”
Sadly, the Liberal government’s enthusiasm in regard to so-called women’s “bodily autonomy” ends at aiding them in the choice to murder their children. Trudeau has continuously announced his war on those who support women’s choice to keep their babies, with the Liberal’s 2021 platform even promising to “no longer provide charity status to anti-abortion organizations that provide dishonest counselling to women about their rights and about the options available to them at all stages of the pregnancy” if re-elected.
Trudeau does not care about the rights of Canadians, especially the rights of the unborn and the rights of their mothers. Unborn children deserve a right to the bodily autonomy that Trudeau says he so strongly supports. So also, women deserve to live in a society where motherhood is respected and valued, and where the dignity of womanhood is realized and upheld.
