Free to Care
Dear friend,
You are receiving this email because you are on our list of trusted Christian leaders in the Francophonie.
Although we started out as a group concerned with the right to seek sexuality therapy, the government is also threatening free speech and the free exercise of faith in their future plans.
We believe Christians should be concerned about this as well.
We previously warned you that Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party promised to attack the charitable status of all pro-life organizations or those that promote alternatives to abortion. The first attack has already been launched. On December 16, Prime Minister Trudeau asked his finance ministers to amend the tax law to make pro-life organizations ineligible. If this bill is created and then passed, organizations that advise young women not to have abortions could have their charitable status revoked.
Our colleagues at UVVC have undertaken an initiative that we fully support and the details of which you will find below. This information is confidential and should only be shared with Christian leaders who are sympathetic to our cause.
Here is UVVC's letter to Christian leaders:
Hello dear pastors,
I hope this letter finds you in great shape. Here is a bill that could hurt all churches if passed.
The Trudeau government is preparing to change income tax law so that "pro-life" charities, including churches, are ineligible for tax credits and other tax benefits as in the past.
We recommend that every church ask their members and prayer leaders to make a special prayer time
for the government to back down and not introduce this bill.
We therefore encourage church leaders and their members to sign this petition first. As many people as possible should be encouraged to sign the petition using the following link: https://www-campaignlifecoalition-com.translate.goog/petition/id/51?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=fr&_x_tr_hl=fr
In addition, it is essential that each church be able to compile a list of all the charitable acts done by it, and also what those acts represent in terms of dollars. This will be essential in demonstrating to the government the indispensable utility of churches and the thousands of dollars saved by the government because they provide for certain needs of large numbers of people. By using these statistics, we will be in a better position to demonstrate the validity of our approach. Please send us your list to the following address: [email protected]
As examples to list: number of Christmas baskets, weekly or monthly food aid, distribution of clothes, help with school fees, community help, help for pregnant women, help for women in difficulty, help for immigrants, fair of employment, emotional and psychological help, etc. And this, in number of people or families helped.
To prevent the government from believing that it is only one entity contesting through churches, we suggest that each church compose a letter stating its disagreement with this bill, attaching a list of charitable acts and of the total dollar amount relating to it, and send it to your federal MP (especially to the Conservative MPs, so that they can stand up against this bill), as well as to the following Conservative MPs who defend pro-values. life: Leslyn Lewis: [email protected], Cathay Wagantall: [email protected] and Arnold Viersen: [email protected]
A press article written by UVVC will be published in January and our legal department will begin writing a brief shortly to be ready in the event that a bill is tabled and if it is a bill. with public consultation, allowing us to file briefs.
Cordially,
Your Board Committee for UVVC
