Letter from UVVC's Vice President
2020, a Year of Challenges and Pride!
Recently, the director-general of a family of Quebec churches asked me what was
special about the news in 2019? I replied that 4 political parties would not tolerate a
Pro-life candidate in their ranks. Neither Justin Trudeau's Liberals, nor the NDP, nor the Greens, nor the
Bloc Québécois wanted to be represented by men and women who share these
values. Mario Dumont recently said that the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada
should not be associated with the Pro-life label if he aspires to take power in the next
elections. What does that mean? This means that the country is no longer represented
by men and women who adhere to Christian values.
2020 is shaping up to be a challenging year for those who cherish the values bequeathed
to us by our master and saviour, Jesus Christ, so I am wishing us a happy new year where we
will be inspired by men and women who will make their values an object of pride.
This requires courage, determination, and active participation in promoting and
defending primacy of life, historical and traditional marriage, and human dignity.
Let us pray that, in 2020 and in the years to come, candidates who share our values can be
elected officials who represent us with dignity. May this new year be marked by courage, wisdom, and pride,
yes, the pride that is attached to our values which have marked our history and our civilizations
for millennia, these values that have marked Quebec, America, and the West; these values that were
held by our founders, by those who cleared our land and left us a legacy.
Yes, in 2020 let us be proud of who we are and of the values we carry in our hearts with respect and resoluteness.
Happy New Year 2020! Pride, health, peace, and wisdom to all who share our values!
