Victory!
The short gender video that included drag queens, trans, etc., which appeared in the Tele-Quebec tele class, was removed the same week following emails from parents who expressed their disapproval.
Victory is proof that together we can make a difference!
Let's not stop there, but let's keep going. The courses given at the secondary level are hardly more appropriate.
Here's what you can find when you go to the site: https://enclasse.telequebec.tv/recherche?a=2&l&s=16
I encourage you not to stop there, but also to tell your MP. Here's how to do it:
Firstly, it would be good if parents contacted their MP at their constituency office; this would cause the whole
government machine to react and to significantly increase the impact.
To find the contact details of one’s MP:
-Click on this link: http://www.assnat.qc.ca/fr/index.html
- Go to the center of the page
- Then find the section: Find an MP by postcode, name, or constituency
- Using the search bar, enter your postal code (no space), ex.: J8T0C3
- Information about your MP will appear at the bottom of the new page.
It's simple and easy!
Here are suggestions of messages you could communicate to him or her:
You consider that this video should not be aimed at young people because,
1.The information or message does not correspond to our values
2.Sex education and acceptable sexual behavior are a matter of parental education and not of the state.
And, if you wish, for the following reason:
3. Given that school dropouts are still quite high in Quebec, we prefer that the educational component place more emphasis on academic enrichment than on the promotion of an ideology.
The most important of the three, is ‘’the fact that this video does not correspond to our values.’’
Note that the important thing is not to win the discussion or to convince. All that matters is to make our disagreement known. Members do not rely on the reasons for contacting them to lean to your side but rather on the number of calls received on the subject. If they receive four calls, and one call is PRO, for them, the majority of the population is not in favor…
And it may be good to let them hear you say that when you're going to vote you want to be sure to elect
an MP who has the same values as you!
